...because I've been pretty busy, and it's paid off!
Well, my review was quite successful, because it landed me a job! Well, sort of...I have to prove my skills first, so I've been assigned to illustrate an old pitch so they can see if I have what they are looking for. Again, I'm not getting my hopes up...but with the streak of good luck I've been having, I feel unstoppable right about now. More than anything, I'm grateful that they saw something good in me and are giving me a chance. Can you imagine...me a corporate illustrator? Whoa! So I've been researching and sketching, and I'm going to hand in my final product tomorrow and hope for the best.
I worked on a lot of marketing and admin stuff this weekend. I finally jumped back into my website and added some new pages, as well as updated some information on it. I discovered that if you Google "Purple Mist Art" both my website and this blog will come up! I also signed up for a free page at Portfolios.com and at Deviant Art. So I'm working on updating those. I finalized the design for my business card, so with my next paycheck, I'm going to finally get those printed out. Finally, I worked out a list of equipment I need to purchase in the next couple of months:
~Laser Printer
~Better quality scanner
~Fax machine
~Wacom Tablet
~A new iMac(my old one is falling apart slowly)
I've come into thinking that all of these are investments rather than expenses, so I'm trying not to cry when I flip that price tag over. I must say that as hard as it is to have a regular full time job and trying to build a freelancing business at the same time, it's totally worth it to have the steady paycheck to buy what I need, save money, and of course pay my bills on time.
I have one new piece that I completed, I just haven't scanned yet. I'll post that tomorrow.
